It is giving time.

This time of year many of us talk about giving. We think about it some. And then we go out and look for presents for our family and friends. The presents make the kids happy - and distract them - for a little while. Then, often, they are forgotten. Our friends appreciate them - and the thought. And we try not to disappoint them. Sometimes we think about giving to 'the unfortunate'. We may even have a vague idea of who they are. Why are they 'unfortunate'? Sometimes they are just lonely. We could 'take up a collection' and give them presents. But they would still be lonely. What do you give a person who is "just lonely"? It would be nice to go out shopping and find a nice gift for them. They would appreciate it. But, if you were to spend that time instead listening and talking with them you could help relieve the loneliness. Maybe that is what 'giving time' really means.

The Lions Club of Pennsauken often hears of community residents who have a material need: oil for heat, glasses, a wheel chair ramp. And if we have raised enough money…we respond. It takes a lot of time to raise money. Direct contributions to the Pennsauken Lions Foundation account help the most. And lots of small contributions show broad support for community service organizations such as the Lions. Pennsauken needs that. Please show your support by sending a contribution to:
