I recommend that you obtain a copy of your credit report yourself and review it with a buyer's agent. This will help avoid the possibility that a number of credit checks show up on your report. Credit inquiries can count against you. 

DO NOT go out and look at houses until you have obtained a prequalification or preapproval (in writing) from a lender unless you are going to pay cash for your new home.
